Bandonkhunhuay School Profile

Bandonkhunhuay School is a small size school in Cha-am district, Phetchaburi Province Thailand. This school locates in The Royal Project which is supported by the King of Thailand.
There are 180 students and 20 teachers. This school is an expansion school for the children in the poor area. The school has 3 levels , they are the kindergarten, primary ( G.1- G.6 ), and secondary (M.1-M.3). The school started at 8.30-16.00 a day, on Monday to Friday.
The school supports the facility for the students such as free books, free uniforms, and free lunches. About materials, the school has high speed internet for teachers and students to study and find something they need. It has a computer center and library, so it is enough for everyone.
School vision :
Learning Reform Teachers and students development To cultivate virtue. Follow the sufficiency economy guidelines.  Environmental improvement Promote community health and health with Thai wisdom and technology.
School Mission
1)      Promote teacher development to be a professional teacher. Develop students with learning skills. Courage Knowledge in the concept of self-sufficiency economy.
2)      Promote the provision of health services to all students.
3)      Encourage teachers to use innovation. Technology and local wisdom used in teaching.
4)      Improve the school environment as a learning resource in schools

Academic Support System


The students study 8 subjects base on the main curriculum; Thais, English, Math, Science, Social study, P.E, House working, and Art. But the school can apply the activities depending on the area needs for example we study about the project and follow the king’s project that make the better life for people in each area. In the area most of the people as farmers grow the pineapple (this is the best area to grow pineapple in Thailand). 
Another way this school is The PEER Center (Primary Education English Resource Center) and ASEAN LEARNING SCHOOL. The media of teaching are complete in those rooms, there is a touch screen board in PEER Center room, so the student can learn English by using high end technology, in other that the teacher can easily provide many things as varieties of teaching in the class. In ASEAN Learning school is wide. The students can freely learn English based on their need. They can learn English by playing games, listening to music, singing, dancing and so on.
In that school also provide free internet high speed and computer room, so the teacher and the student can easily find the material of the subject from many different resources.

Teaching System
The teachers in Bandonkhunhuay school are professional enough. The teacher has many different activities in teaching English. They apply games, listening to music, singing, dancing and etc in their teaching process. Firstly, the teacher opens the class. Then, the students give the greeting to the teacher. Before the students sit down, the teacher and the students have conversations and the teacher asking many questions repeatedly every meeting in the class. In the teaching process, the teacher applies either cooperative learning or student centered where the student as main role in the class, they actively learn English in easy way, whereas the teacher as guider for their activities, but the role of the teacher is important where he/she always responsibly organizes the class. The teacher usually uses TPR (Total Physical Responds), audio lingual method, role play, and so on.
Beside of teaching in the class, sometimes the students go in the outside of the class (school yard) or have tour learning, where they visit some place to have different experiences in learning process.

Materials and others learning sources

            The materials of teaching are taken from many resources, those are:
·         Book, the books are from the government (student book and teacher book), PEER Center Room, and the others.
·         Internet
·         The teacher make their own materials

Measurement and Evaluation System
           
This school follows the educational system from the government. Thailand implements 2 (two) National Exams for Prathom education up to Mattayom. The student of Prathom 3, Prathom 6, Mattayom 3 join national exam. Generally, the students have 3 kind of evaluation, those are:
·     Worksheet, practice, homework, and extra point (if the students correctly answer the questions or win the game). All activities is counted 50 %
·      Midterm exam is in the middle of semester (20 %)
·       Final exam is in the end of semester (30%)

Curriculum

The school implement the Basic Education Core Curriculum B.E. 2551 (A.D. 2008).
“The Basic Education Core Curriculum is aimed at enhancing capacity of all learners,  who constitute the major force of the country, so as to attain balanced development in all respects—physical strength, knowledge and morality. They will fully realise their commitment and responsibilities as Thai citizens as well as members of the world community. Adhering to a democratic form of government under constitutional monarchy, they will be endowed with basic knowledge and essential skills and favourable attitude towards further education, livelihood and lifelong learning. The learner-centred approach is therefore strongly advocated, based on the conviction that all are capable of learning and self-development to their highest potentiality” (directive of the Ministry of Education No. OBEC 293/2551 (2008)).
